"The dame of Quake Lake"
Quake Lake was created after an earthquake caused one side of the mountain range to slough off and slide across the valley to the other side. The Madison river narrow enough to cause the water to back up on itself making a lake in the valley behind it. The valley flooded in a period of two hours, claiming over a dozen campers lives who were camping in the campground there in the valley.
